An effective consultant has three specific skill sets:
1) Diagnostic skills: The ability to study and understand a client's cultural landscape rather than simply the surface problems 2) Practicum skills: The ability to execute a solution through the strata of an organization, including not only the executives but also the on-the-ground teams 3) Adaptation skills: The ability to understand the dynamic nature of problems and organizations and being able to react and respond to the larger environment in which a problem exists
